Staff always excellent.
What a really really nice stay, no complaints whatsoever. The hotel was fairly clean. Good location, within a close distance from a modern cultural center. Very impressed with standard double room except for a safe...

I greatly enjoyed the stay here. Helpful staff and perfect location close to the MEtro station, everything was GOOD. The service was good. Location: the hotel was short walk to the metro stations Largo Machado and Flamengo, Botanical Garden, and sugarloaf mountain. Found Katsushika steps away from the venue where I had supper.

Great value for money. Clean and tidy rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location near Flamengo beach. Close to shops and metro station.
Felt secure, no reason to worry.

The room was perfect! It had air conditioning, which is a must for us, and free WiFi to stay connected. The flat-screen TV was great for relaxing in the evenings, and the minibar was a nice touch. The modern bathroom with granite finishing added a touch of luxury.
Personally, I wasn't a fan of the private bathroom with only a shower. But hey, different strokes for different folks!

The staff were very helpful and friendly, and accommodated our requests graciously. The hotel was clean and carefully maintained, and our shower had hot water and good pressure. Air conditioning worked fine. We were happy to be able to stay in a clean, friendly, bug-free place in a safe and convenient neighbourhood in the heart of Rio.
The architecture of the building works against it - from outside this appears to be a grand, old Casa, but while the facade has been retained, on the inside the building has been remodelled to include two floors on each level. As a result, ceilings are low, doorways are narrow, rooms are tiny, and placement (or complete lack) of windows in the resulting rooms is unusual and not necessarily optimal. Our first room had no window, but when we requested a room with a window for air circulation, we were offered one with a small window at floor level. This was fine, however, for us, as it opened if we wanted, or we could use the air conditioning. Breakfast was bare-bones - not the usual spread one gets accustomed to when travelling in Brazil.

Relative to other options in the Flamengo area, Hotel Venezuela was competitively priced (included a simple and typical breakfast) and was easy to locate. Parking was not available but a parallel street had a reasonably priced 24hr parking garage.
"Tiniest rooms in the world", this is how I described the hotel rooms to my (American) wife. For Latin-Americans, traveling on a budget and aware of the cost of housing in Rio, it's easy to get accustomed to the size of the room and bathroom.

Nice building and rooms with ac. Breakfast with several types of bread and buns, as example.

It was fairly clean, staff was excellent and amicable. The hotel's location was perfect, just off sugarloaf mountain and nice area and the metro stations Largo Machado and Flamengo. Booked a room with ac. The cost was US$ 124. All the services were good.
Nothing everything was great.

The hotel is located in a fantastic area, with easy access to attractions like sugarloaf mountain and the beach. It is also conveniently close to a bus stop and subway station. The rooms are small but comfortable, with air conditioning and TV. The staff is friendly and welcoming, allowing early check-in and providing storage for luggage.
The facilities are a bit outdated and some parts of the room, like the bed sheets, could have been cleaner.

I have to say I didn't expect much from the hotel at the beginning because I wasn't staying in any of these big hotels in copacabana or ipanema, yet I was wrong, I was pleasantly surprised, the hotel was decent, the breakfast was small but decent too, the room was small but comfortable, but the best part was the customer service, they were very helpful, and I mean very helpful from beginning to end, I highly recommend this hotel to those travellers who wanto save a bit of money on the hotel so that they can pay for tours and other Rio delights; I certainly did, even went to Rock in Rio concerts!!
Include cereal in your breakfast if possible please, apart from that , brilliant!

I chose Venezuela hotel because I wanted to visit Santa Teresa, and the hotel's location was ideal. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the express check-in service, which made my arrival smooth and hassle-free. Additionally, the buffet breakfast served daily with tropical fruits was a delightful way to start my day.
Old and unclean facilities.

Very good location and staff. Good value for money in general.
The room/bathroom are tiny. Also the room had a constant and strong smell of cleaning products.
